The superb views from Mt. Lobuche make it one of the the most quintessentially-popular Himalayan trekking peaks, despite its difficulty level being a bit more challenging than that of nearby Island Peak. From the summit, you’ll be able to gaze out at mighty Everest, as well as several peaks on the Tibetan side of the Rongbuk. It’s an experience you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
We gear up for the Lobuche summit push with a stop at the Everest Base Camp. Here, you’ll get a feel for mountain life and a lesson on climbing. Our bodies will also have a chance to acclimatize for the thin air atop Lobuche! Altitude sickness is something we strive to avoid, and our carefully-crafted itinerary is designed for optimal adjustment. En route, we’ll climb the “black rock” of Kala Patthar, and experience a jaw-dropping Himalayan panorama.
Your guides will be the ultra-experienced Sherpas, many of whom have scaled other peaks including Everest. We run our climbs with a 2 climbers to 1 guide ratio to ensure that everyone makes it to the summit or has a chance to try even if members of the group have different pacing. Our climbing packages include boots and all the the gear you will need for the climb.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we will be there to welcome and transport you to your hotel in Thamel. The tourist hub of Thamel is a good place to shop for last minute trekking gears and grab your first local Nepalese meal. Then, if it’s not too late, (depending on your arrival time), you can explore the city. In the evening, your trek guide will also organise a trek briefing to talk about the essentials of your trek.
Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft
Today our team will meet with you in the early afternoon to review the gear you have brought. We will make sure you have quality climbing boots that fit well before you head off to the mountain. Plan on an evening briefing on last-minute specifics about your trek and an early lights-out: you have a big day ahead.

(Having an easy first day is intentional, allowing you time to get used to the higher elevation.) The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkoshi River until Phakding, where we will be staying for the night to acclimatize. Enjoy your free time in Phakding, a popular stopping point.

After breakfast, you’ll start a steady and steep incline towards Namche Bazaar, the biggest Sherpa village in Nepal. This is a challenging day as you’ll start to feel the altitude. The route also consists of a few high suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River that you need to cross. And soon after trekking through the beautiful pine forest to Monjo, we will approach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park which was set-up to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment for a brief permit check. The trail gets steeper along the way, and if the weather is clear, you will get the first glimpses of Mount Everest.
Elevation: 3,440m/11,283ft
Today is a free day but if you choose to do a hike, we will leave early for the hike up to the Everest View Hotel about an hour’s hike above Namche Bazaar. It offers a fantastic panorama of the Himalayas and a great view of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. After enjoying the view and relaxing with a hot coffee we continue to the traditional Sherpa villages of Khunde and Khumjung. If you’re interested, we will visit Khumjung Monastery which houses the scalp of what’s said to be a Yeti. Leaving the villages, we circle back to Namche via the small airstrip at Shyangboche.

We will pass by Pangboche village and stop by the beautiful Somare village for lunch before continuing our ascent to our destination of the day – Dingboche.

After a strenuous few days of continuous climbing, today is your chance to rest up before the last leg of our adventure! Taking an optional trek to the valleys will pay off with rewarding views!

Walking Distance: 8.4km (4-5 hours)

After a day of rest, we will head back to the main trail, perhaps you will also notice that the trek gradually becoming more challenging due to high altitude. We will continue to climb the wide valley, just beneath the snow-capped peaks of Cholatse and Tawache, which loom impressively on your left. You’ll notice that the landscape becomes more icy and remote, with sparser habitation. We’ll pass Dungla, but not before a tough, steep walk to the top of a high hill. You’ll find many stone cairns along the top of the path, those are the memorial stupas dedicated to the climbers and trekkers who lost their lives to Everest over the years. The route continues gently along the slope of the Khumbu glacier – the tallest glacier in the world to a small settlement which is also the destination of the day – Lobuche. From here, you will be able to see amazing views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari and the Nuptse. Prepare for a cold night as we are high above sea level!

Today is the day! After an early wake-up call, you’ll leave Lobuche at the crack of dawn, just in time to catch the sun as it reaches the summits of the Himalayan peaks. From there, you’ll traverse the Khumbu Glacier on your way to Gorak Shep, a dry, sandy lakebed. But not stopping yet, after a quick lunch, we’ll climb along the Khumbu Glacier at a slow but steady pace in your bid to reach Everest Base Camp. The trail to Everest Base Camp is harder, involving rocky dunes and moraine, formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris. At the Base Camp, during Spring Everest Expedition season, you’ll have the chance to meet climbers attempting to scale the mountain’s summit. Stop to take as many photos as you can and relax in the world-famous threshold for all summit expeditions. After taking some time to admire your surroundings, we’ll make our way back down to Gorak Shep, where you’ll spend the night.
